The Sandbox event,
hosted by the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program
or IDEaS, provides a unique opportunity for selected innovators to demonstrate
and test their cutting-edge technology in a real-world environment
while gaining valuable feedback from Department of National Defence
and Canadian Armed Forces experts, and other potential safety
and security end users.
IDEaS is pleased to announce it has selected the innovators who will
participate in the third iteration of its counter-drone Sandbox in 2024.
It's important to be able to find some of those solutions
to the problems that the Canadian Armed Forces are facing.
And certainly, UAS is a problem that the Canadian Armed Forces are facing.
How do we defend ourselves? How do we detect them?
So I think our role is really to to make sure that we
can put together an event like this, bringing some of those innovators
in an area where they can basically have free range
if you wish, to show us what what they got basically.
And this is really our role in terms of supporting innovation
for the Canadian Armed Forces as a research and development establishment.
This is a very good opportunity for us actually
to come into a different country and to experience
a different environment and the range as well.
And we are able to do our testing in a short period actually, because we have got all the facilities that is required.
Test activities, having a clear
blue sky, having our line of sight all over
and this opportunity is really helping us to improve the system.
Till now we have been testing a lot of things that we couldn't test
in our range and finding our limitations, which will help us to improve our system.
