My name is Carmen Harb.
I am a group leader for the
Petroleum Products Group under
the Applied Science section at the
Quality Engineering Test
Establishment (QETE).
QETE petroleum Products Group
is the technical authority and
subject matter expert for a
wide range of fuels, lubricants
and associated products used
by the Canadian Army and the Royal
Canadian Air Force.
Some of these products include
aviation, land and marine
fuels, lubricants, hydraulic
fluids, greases,
hexamine tablets and de-icing
fluids.
During a recent visit from
the president of the United States
of America to Ottawa,
samples from the fuel that was going
to be used to service Air Force
One were sent to QETE for
a quality control assessment.
Our group was tasked to
perform fuel quality testing under
significant time constraints with
minimal preparation time.
Air Force One support staff
had unique demands,
which included the demonstration
of test methods to
on site personnel for verification.
Developing the report
to Air Force One specific
reporting needs
testing that would normally take
several days to complete was
finished by our team in roughly
6 hours.
For this and other urgent situations
we've faced in the past, such
timely support was always
delivered.
It's a culture that I believe exists
here at QETE.
