For too long, persons with disabilities have been left out,
despite the clear advantage that inclusion presents.
As we celebrate this week, let’s emphasize our ongoing
commitment to a barrier-free nation through this year’s theme,
“Building a Strong, Accessible Canada.”
A nation where everyone,
including the one in four Canadians who have a disability,
is seen, is heard and can play their part.
That’s why this year’s theme is
“Building a Strong, Accessible Canada.”
Because when people have a fair chance to succeed, we all benefit.
This week serves as an important reminder of the work that persons with
with disabilities have been doing to make Canada more accessible.
There is still much more work to be done,
beyond this week, to build a nation where
everyone can reach their full potential.
