I was born in Toronto but I am currently living in Vancouver BC. The thing that bothers me about the banks these days is that we invest our savings with them and they give us ZERO percent interest. Then they turn around and charge us for every single transaction be it writing a check, making a deposit, or using our bank cards. They give us credit cards with ridiculously high interest rates ( 19% ) Then they turn around and tell us they have made record profits again this year. Where do these profits come from? The people who put their money in the bank which is basically almost everyone in this country. Financial worries? Yes we Canadians have worries. Although I think we have it better here then other parts of the world. Most Canadian families have both partners working full time jobs to make ends meet. To many people who were born here, owning a home is a dream that seems very unrealistic. The rent in Vancouver is actually what the cost of a mortgage should be. Just have a look at the Craigslist and try to rent an apartment here. There will be 20 people fighting for any given over priced apartment on any given day of the week. Retirement seems to also be another dream you can have only once you are dead. That is my two cents. Thank you. XXXX
