From: XXXX Sent: February-27-14 3:51 PM To: Consumer Code / Code consommateur Subject: Legal tender In view of recent stories that banks (and others) do not accept cash for financial transactions, the government should make it quite clear to all concerned whether "legal tender" is in fact just that, i.e. a complete settlement of any debt. If not, the law should be changed to specify what exactly will legally satisfy any debt. If cash is not acceptable, then the country's bank notes should no longer have the name of the Bank of Canada on them, since evidently the Bank's endorsement is no longer trusted by the country's financial institutions.
