Parliamentary Secretary Drouin to tour Food Waste Reduction Challenge finalist: Genecis Bioindustries

Media are invited to join Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Francis Drouin, to tour the Toronto laboratory of Genecis Bioindustries. The company, one of six finalists in the Novel Technologies Stream for the Food Waste Reduction Challenge, is converting food waste into compostable and biodegradable plastics.

Genecis is a Toronto-area start-up that graduated from Y Combinator, a technology start-up accelerator in Silicon Valley. Its unique process can be co-located with existing waste processing facilities to generate up to 10 times more revenue potential per tonne of food waste.

Media are invited to ask questions and take photos/videos of laboratory equipment throughout the tour.
