Chief Warrant Officer Guy Thivierge, MMM, CD
Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Thivierge was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. In 1997, he joined the Air Reserve as a Construction Technician with the Airfield Engineering Flight in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He was in the Air Reserve for four years and deployed to Canadian Forces Station Alert, Bosnia, Macedonia and Kosovo.
In 2000, he completed his Qualification Level 5 (QL5) training and applied for a component transfer to the Regular Force. In March 2001, his application was accepted and he was posted to 5 Combat Engineer Regiment (5 CER) in Valcartier, Quebec, for two years. He was then posted to the 12 Régiment Blindé du Canada in Valcartier where he worked as a carpenter.
In 2007, CWO Thivierge was posted to Canadian Forces Base Comox. During this posting, he was promoted to Master Corporal and, in 2010, deployed to Afghanistan with 2 Combat Engineer Regiment. Upon returning from his mission, he was promoted to Sergeant and posted back to 5 CER in Valcartier. While there, he carried out a technical assistance visit to Kuwait. In 2014, after completing his Warrant Officer (WO) course, he was promoted to the rank and accepted the position of Troop WO. With this promotion, he changed to the Construction Engineer Superintendent trade.
In 2015, he was posted to 1 Engineer Support Unit (1 ESU) in Kingston, Ontario. During this posting, he worked on various engineering design projects in Iraq, Jamaica and Latvia.
In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO) and posted to 2 Mission Support Squadron at 2 Wing Bagotville as the Engineer Flight MWO. During this period, he deployed as the Camp Sergeant Major (CSM) at the Operational Support Hub in Kuwait.
In 2020, he was transferred back to Kingston to work at Canadian Forces Joint Support Group Headquarters in the Engineer and Operations cell. From 2021 to 2023, he assumed the role of CSM of the Latin American Caribbean Support Hub in Jamaica.
In 2024, he was promoted to CWO and posted to 1 ESU. In 2025, he was inducted into the Order of Military Merit and, in 2026, he deployed on Operation LENTUS in Cross Lake, Manitoba.
CWO Thivierge was appointed Formation CWO of 1 Wing in 2026. In his spare time, he enjoys playing hockey and participating in outdoor activities, such as cycling.
