Lieutenant General Al DeQuetteville was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 412 Transport Squadron, in Ottawa ON in May 2015.

Honorary Colonel DeQuetteville graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree and is a graduate of the US Air Force Test Pilot School and of the National Defence College. He served as Commander of Air Command and the first modern Chief of the Air Staff for two years until his retirement in 1998, culminating a distinguished 37 years career in the Canadian Armed Forces. As a fighter pilot he commanded at every level including becoming the Commander Officer of the first CF-18 Hornet squadron – 410 Tactical Fighter (Operational Training (OT)) Squadron in Cold Lake, AB and as Base Commander of 4 Wing Baden, Germany. He is the recipient of the Order of Military Merit (Commander) and the United States Legion of Merit (Commander).

Honorary Colonel DeQuetteville followed his military career by serving as Vice-President-Canada for the Boeing Company until 2007, responsible for the Ottawa office and for strategic planning and business development functions in Canada for all Boeing’s operating groups. He served as Honorary Colonel of 410 Tactical Fighter (OT) Squadron until 2007. Honorary Colonel DeQuetteville is a Fellow of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, a member of the Defence Advisory Board, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Corps of Commissionaires (Ottawa Division) and a member of the Airpower Advisory Committee of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association.

Honorary Colonel DeQuetteville and his wife Susan reside in Manotick, ON, enjoying golf and hiking.
