Honorary Colonel Brian Smith

Mr. Brian Smith was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron, 8 Wing Trenton, ON in February 2018.
Honorary Colonel Smith was born in Belleville, Ontario. He received a diploma in Business Administration from Loyalist College in 1971, and graduated with Honours from the University of Ottawa Long Term Care Organization and Management program in 1982. Honorary Colonel Smith successfully completed the Managing and Leading in a Municipal Environment Certification Program at Loyalist College in 2007.
Honorary Colonel Smith began his career in Health Care in 1974 as Assistant Administrator of the Hastings Manor Home for the Aged. In 1980 he assumed the role of Director of Personal and Employee Relations Officer at Trenton Memorial Hospital, and in 1984 began a tenure as Administrator of the Quinte Living Centre, a Seniors Non Profit Housing provider in Belleville.
Honorary Colonel Smith worked for seven years as Program Supervisor with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care before serving thirteen years in the role of Director of Emergency and Long Term Care Services for the County of Lennox and Addington in Napanee, retiring in 2014. During this time, he was appointed for two 3-year terms on the Board of Governors of Loyalist College Belleville and Chair of the Quinte Health Care Board of Directors for three years.
Since retirement, Honorary Colonel Smith has been a very active member of the community serving as Acting Chair of South East Local Health Integration Network. In June of 2017,
Honorary Colonel Smith received a certificate from the Indigenous Health Program as part of his LHIN training: San’Yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety.
Honorary Colonel Smith Brian received an honorary diploma from Loyalist College for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the development of the College during his service on the Board of Governors and continues to occupy the role of treasurer for the Loyalist Foundation Board.
