Honorary Colonel Jim Killin

Mr. Jim Killin was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 3 Wing Bagotville, Quebec, in January 2016.

Honorary Colonel Killin was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia before making Montreal his home in 1967. Jim has over 40 years of retail experience working with several major department stores.

In 1995, Honorary Colonel Killin joined L’Équipeur / Mark’s Work Wearhouse as associate Vice President of operations for Eastern Canada. This position has given him the honour of working closely with various communities in the Quebec and Atlantic regions partnering with many organizing committees for many Air shows headlining; the Snowbirds, the Skyhawk’s and the renowned CF-18 demo teams. Bringing these shows to the people within the various communities highlights the professionalism of the men and women of our Forces and their commitment and service to our country. He retired in December 2013, after 43 years in the retail industry.

Of the many distinctions and milestones throughout his career, Honorary Colonel Killin’s fondest memory is reserved for the time he visited the troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan with team Canada. A truly life changing experience. He has also visited our deployed members in Romania, Lithuania and Kuwait over the past year.

Honorary Colonel Killin’s commitment to helping and supporting our troops has also spread to Mark’s employees, who are eagerly involved in various initiatives to assist the families of the men and women serving at home and abroad, particularly on the bases in Gagetown (New Brunswick), Trenton (Ontario), Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Bagotville (Quebec).

In 2011, Honorary Colonel Killin was inducted by the 431 Demonstration Team, “The Snowbirds”, by being named as an Honorary Snowbird. He served as Honorary Colonel of 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron from 2011-2015.

Driven by his commitment to give back to the community, Honorary Colonel Killin has been involved with partnering with Air Canada’s Dreams Take Flight program for the past 20 years, taking over 170 physically, socially and handicapped children annually, from the Quebec region, as well as implicating members children from Canadian Forces base (CFB) Bagotville for the past 5 years, to Disney World for a day, a truly life changing experience for many children.

Jim has 3 daughters, Leigh Ann, Ashley and Stephanie and resides in Beaconsfield Quebec.
