Honorary Colonel Stewart Burton

Mr. Burton was appointed as Honorary Colonel of the newly re-formed 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, in Petawawa, ON in May 2015.

Honorary Colonel Burton is Vice Chairman of RBC Capital Markets. He was born in Regina SK and received his Honours Bachelor of Arts from the Richard Ivey School of Business at University of Western Ontario in 1981 and Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University five years later. Honorary Colonel Burton earned his Chartered Accountant designation after three years with Ernst & Young. In 1986 he moved to RBC Capital Markets serving in a range of positions including Managing Director, Global Investment Banking Group and the Co-Head of Consumer and Industrial Group. In his present position he is responsible for senior level relationships with a range of clients in Canada and the United States and is a member of the Investment Banking Operating Committee, the RBC Foundation and the Promotions Committee.

Honorary Colonel Burton serves as the Director of the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, the Vimy Foundation, and is on the Regimental Council of the Queen’s York Rangers. He is a student of history – particularly military history which included tours of First and Second World War battlefields of Normandy beaches, Vimy, Passchendaele and Beaumont Hamel to name but a few.
