Snowbird 3A – Avionics Technician, Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Master Corporal Shane Votour was born in Lahr, Germany, and raised in Oromocto, New Brunswick. From a military family, he enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2010 as an Avionics Systems Technician. Following basic training, he completed his trade course as well as the Performance Orientated Electrical Training (POET).
In 2011, MCpl Votour was posted to Shearwater, Nova-Scotia, where he worked on the CH-124 Sea King Helicopter at 423 Squadron for 6 years. During this time, he sailed with HMCS Fredericton on multiple deployments. In the summer of 2018, he began working on a new airframe, the CH-148 Cyclone Helicopter.
MCpl Votour was posted to 431 Squadron in Moose Jaw in 2021. He is looking forward to the experience he will gain working with the Air Demonstration team. This will be his second season working with the Snowbirds team.
