Brigadier-General Dave Abboud joined the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantry officer in 1994 with the Royal 22e Régiment.

He was entrusted with many leadership positions and deployed several times. In particular, he led a combat team in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and was appointed Commandant of the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. He was deployed to Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and Jordan.

BGen Abboud served in a variety of staff positions in Ottawa within the Strategic Joint Staff, the Canadian Joint Operations Command Headquarters, the Canadian Army Headquarters, the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command Headquarters, and the Director General Military Careers Division. He was appointed Commander 2nd Canadian Division Support Group in July, 2019.

BGen Abboud holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Military Art and Science. He is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He also completed the Canadian Forces College National Security Programme.

BGen Abboud was promoted to his current rank in 2022. He was appointed Chief of Staff Army Operations in July 2022.
