ALPA Equipment Ltd. scales-up and improves operations

News release

December 7, 2022 · Eel River Crossing, New Brunswick · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)

Small and medium-sized businesses and the organizations that support them represent the backbone of regional economies. They generate quality local jobs and are a source of pride for their communities. To do so, businesses and entrepreneurs need a strong foundation, built on technological innovation, inclusivity, and clean growth to create the workforce of the future.

Federal investment supports business growth

Today, René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, announced an investment of $1.1 million through the Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF) for ALPA Equipment Ltd. (ALPA) to support a project that will create at least 15 new jobs by 2023. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

The investment will help ALPA establish a manufacturing and assembly line for a multi-functional harvester, the Landrich Harvester. The project will also allow the company to increase production and sales through improved operations.

Launched in July 2021, the Jobs and Growth Fund (JGF) provides $700 million over three years to Canada’s regional development agencies to support a regional response and stimulate economic recovery following the COVID-19 crisis by investing in projects that will help to create jobs. Through the JGF, the Government of Canada aims to support the transition to a green economy, foster an inclusive recovery, enhance competitiveness, and create jobs in every corner of the country.

“The vitality of our business communities across Atlantic Canada is key to our economic recovery. We’ll continue to invest in local businesses, and the organizations that support them, so they can create good jobs, seize inclusive and clean growth opportunities, and build resiliency for years to come.”

-    The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA

“ALPA is a leading manufacturer of specialized forestry equipment and a local success story for northern New Brunswick. I am pleased that the Government of Canada, through ACOA, is investing in companies like this one, to help them improve their business operations and production, and bring continued success to the region.”

-     René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche

"This project is another step towards realizing my father's dream of building these machines here in New Brunswick. With this new manufacturing and assembly line and new state-of-the-art tools, we will be able to increase production, efficiency, profitability and create jobs, not to mention the economic benefits for the region. We are very proud of this new investment.”

-    Serge Landry, Vice President and General Manager, ALPA Equipment Ltd.
