Minister McGuinty to make announcement on strengthening Canada’s maritime security

The Honourable David J. McGuinty, Minister of National Defence, will make an announcement regarding the Canadian Coast Guard’s new security provisions under the Strengthening Canada’s Immigration System and Borders Act.

When: May 22, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. EDT
Where: Hangar 1544; 1544 Ungalliqpaat Cres, Iqaluit, Nunavut
What: Federal and local representatives will participate in the announcement. Minister McGuinty, Member of Parliament for Nunavut, Lori Idlout, and Canadian Coast Guard Commissioner Kevin Brosseau will offer remarks. A media availability and photo opportunity will follow.
