In addition to enjoying a magical sound and light show in a most enchanting setting, the public is invited to take advantage of the various activities offered before Northern Lights begins.

Picnic on Parliament Hill

Admire the architectural beauty of the Parliament Buildings while enjoying a picnic before the show. Bring a blanket and a chair and you’ll have a front row seat to Northern Lights.

Play interactive games with family and friends

Interactive games start on our CUBE trailer about one hour before the Northern Lights show begins and the activities run for about 55 minutes. Spectators are invited to play pre-show games with family and friends.

Visit museums and galleries

Learn more about the country's history by visiting a national museum or gallery and then, head to Parliament Hill for the Northern Lights sound and light show.

Introduction to camping

Are you interested in going on your first camping trip but don’t know where to begin? The Learn-to Camp team has you covered! In collaboration with MEC, the Parks Canada Learn-to Camp program equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to feel confident in planning and carrying out your first adventure.

Participate in workshops from 4:30 to 8 p.m. before the show on the Hill:

  • July: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th
  • August: 4th, 11th, 18th
