The Delegation of the European Union to Canada and the Embassies of EU Member States are proud to present this 30-block ice sculpture featuring everyday objects emblematic of EU Member States. Explore Europe’s diverse and rich cultures through these “frozen-in-time” symbols. At the end of Winterlude, or depending on Mother Nature’s mood swings, you will also have the chance to dig out the objects and keep them as souvenirs.

This year we are also celebrating another extraordinary journey: the euro’s milestone 20th anniversary. For two decades, the European Union’s single currency has made it easier for Europeans to travel, study, work, and live abroad. The euro has become an integral part of everyday life. Today, the Euro is the currency of 19 EU countries and over 340 million Europeans. It is one of the most important currencies in the world – and a constant reminder of the freedom, convenience and opportunities that the EU makes possible.
