Team Manitoba — Winterlude National Ice-Carving Championship

Sculpture title: Moose Curling

Carvers: Larry MacFarlane and Tom Pitt

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Mickey Moose and Beverly the Beaver are the finalists at the Animal kingdom curling trials. Their goal is to win. A lot of practice, attempts and failures have allowed them to achieve this feat. The Moose Curling sculpture depicts the dream kept alive through it all, while they had fun and enjoyed the outdoors. With 40 years of experience each, MacFarlane and his ice-carving hat, Pitt and his chainsaw, hope to let the Animal kingdom team show us how letting our imagination run free can turn dreams into reality.

Standing on its back legs, a beaver is holding a curling brush. A moose in profile, wearing a maple leaf sweater, is holding a curling broom with his left hand. Leaning forward, the moose appears to be preparing to slide the curling stone in front of the beaver.
