Team New Brunswick — Winterlude National Ice-Carving Championship
Sculpture title: The Push
Carvers: Joel Palmer and Richard Chiasson
Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick
The Push is inspired by the Olympian Spirit and individual journeys to overcome, uplift, and drive harder in life. We are challenged in our climb upward when faced with difficult circumstances. The sculpture depicts how endurance, setting goals, achievement, and encouraging others are part of life. Like the tree growing on a high barren rock outcrop, humans also fight the elements to survive passing storms with wisdom, time, and their efforts rooted in their journeys. With many decades of experience, Palmer and Chiasson challenged themselves technically to delicately position and use fine details as keys to this piece.
