Team Prince Edward Island — Winterlude National Ice-Carving Championship
Sculpture title: Herd Community
Carvers: Patrick Brunet and Kelly Caseley
Location: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Caribou are inspiring animals. Emblematic of resilience, will and community, they face the unexpected during migrations and adapt to survive in extreme environments. Herd Community parallels their qualities with those of humans who succeed when pushing their limits. The sculpture also tells us about the pillars of communities: family, mentors, and patrons whose love, guidance, and support allow the young to reach new heights. These are echoed by the different sized caribou, which Brunet and Caseley have balanced in their piece. Used as the symbol of success and honour on the podium, the laurel crowns the work and sculptors.
