A chilly breath of fresh air is blowing over Winterlude!

From February 1 to 18 2019, the flagship event of the winter tourism season in Canada’s Capital Region will be brighter than ever!

Get ready for an unforgettable season of old favourites and new experiences! Further details will be forthcoming. Stay tuned!

Getting around

The OLG Sno-Bus Shuttle Service links the Winterlude official sites on weekends and Family day. Stops are sign-posted.

The on-going free shuttle-bus service is provided in Ottawa by OCTranspo and in Gatineau by the Société de Transport de l’Outaouais (STO).

Saturdays and Sundays, February 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18

In Gatineau

10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. between the Centre Robert-Guertin park-and-ride on Saint-Rédempteur Street (regular STO bus stop), Jacques-Cartier Park North and Confederation Park.

In Ottawa

Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., between Dows Lake, Rideau Canal Skateway and Confederation Park.

Monday, February 19

10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. between Dows Lake, Confederation Park and Jacques-Cartier Park North (with OC Transpo only).

Facilities and services

Concession Stands

Concessions stands are available at Confederation Park, Jacques-Cartier Park North and on the Rideau Canal Skateway.

First Aid

First aid is available at Jacques-Cartier Park North, on Queen Elizabeth Drive at the National Arts Centre, and on the Rideau Canal Skateway at Fifth Avenue.

Lost and found

Lost and found boxes are kept at Winterlude information kiosks at these locations: Confederation Park, Jacques-Cartier Park North, Rideau Canal Skateway at Fifth Avenue.

Valuable items are turned over to local police:

Lost Children Services

Lost Children Services are available at:

  • Jacques-Cartier Park North (during park hours)
  • On Queen Elizabeth Driveway at Dows Lake, at the National Arts Centre and at Fifth Avenue (Saturdays and Sundays)

Skate rentals

Skate and sleigh rentals, and skate sharpening, on the Rideau Canal Skateway at the National Arts Centre (819-923-7039), Fifth Avenue at Queen Elizabeth (819-921-6039) and Dows Lake (613- 232-1001).


Portable washrooms are available at each of the main Winterlude locations (Confederation Park, Jacques-Cartier Park North and the Rideau Canal Skateway). Ottawa City Hall (Marion Dewar Place) offers indoor toilets.

Universal accessibility

Special services on the Rideau Canal Skateway include: ramps to access the Skateway and accessible portable toilets.

Accessible portable toilets are available at Jacques-Cartier Park North and Confederation Park, but access to these sites may be difficult due to weather conditions.

A limited number of accessible parking spots ($) are available for people with disabilities at these parking lots:

  • National Arts Centre (NAC)
  • Ottawa City Hall
  • Dows Lake parking (corner of Preston and Prince of Wales)
  • Bronson Avenue’s National Capital Commission parking space

Do your part for the environment

While attending events at Jacques-Cartier Park North, at Confederation Park, Marion Dewar Plaza and on the Rideau Canal Skateway, please:

  • Recycle — put recyclables in the on-site recycling stations
  • Compost — put food waste and other compost items in the on-site compost stations
  • Use public transit
  • Use the Free Shuttle Service linking official Winterlude sites on Weekends and Family Day

No dogs or pets

Dogs and pets are not permitted at Winterlude sites.

Exceptions are made for service and guide dogs.
