Transcript of The Orphan Works Hackathon
[A Library and Archives Canada employee talking to the camera]
Dara Price: “As federal public servants, I find it can be hard to leap from saying nice things about innovative policy-making to actually doing them. So this orphan works hackathon sent me home with some concrete ideas about how, at Library and Archives Canada, we might actually tackle some of the very real program and policy issues that we have by engaging our users and our stakeholders. In fact, we’re thinking about, over the coming months, trying to organize some type of event that’s inspired by this PCH example that we had.
“So I really hope that examples like this, like he PCH hackathon, will help departments to keep experimenting and trying to find ways to actually change the underlying culture.”
