COVID-19: The Government of Canada is taking action to support the publishing and news sectors
“I strongly believe the media plays an essential role in informing Canadians, especially in times of crisis. Media organizations play a key role in sharing important information. We must support them, which is why our government will help to ensure that our publishing and information sectors are supported and that our economy remains strong.”
—The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage
“Our government remains committed to supporting a vibrant journalism industry, while respecting the core principle of journalistic independence. The members of the Independent Advisory Board appointed today are all highly respected in their fields. I thank them for agreeing to help deliver unprecedented support for Canadian journalism organizations and to ensure the vitality of our democracy.”
-The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue
