COVID-19 update for correctional employees: February 17, 2023
This content is a message to Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff from CSC's Commissioner.
In celebration of Black History Month, please join me in thanking:
- volunteers
- advisory committee members, and
- stakeholders
for their contributions to the reintegration and rehabilitation of Black and other racialized offenders in our care and custody.
If you would like to access materials to promote volunteer recognition, please find the Recognition Toolkit in the Management of CSC Volunteers - Manual for Staff on the Hub. (Internal resource only)
I also want to recognize your hard work in helping offenders in their successful reintegration. I am pleased to report that our results for Black women offenders have consistently improved over the past 5 years. In fact, since 2020-2021, 100% have not been readmitted to custody within 5 years following the end of their sentence!
Thank you for your commitment and passion for what you do. You are truly making a difference in changing lives and protecting Canadians.
Tax slips
Just a reminder that your 2022 income tax slips (T4) will be available online February 21. You can access them through Phoenix self-service or MyGCPay on your work computer. Or from your personal computer, you may get a copy of your T4 online from the Canada Revenue Agency if you are registered with them.

Pink Shirt Day
Wednesday, February 22, is Pink Shirt Day, in support of anti-bullying. Bullying is an issue in schools, workplaces, homes, and online. It is not acceptable. On this day, and every day, let us be conscious of how we treat one another. Together, we can create a healthy work environment that prioritizes:
- respect
- communication
- inclusion
- tolerance
- acceptance
- kindness
- empathy
- support, and
- understanding
If you do not wear a uniform, I encourage you to wear pink on February 22. If you do wear a uniform, you can participate in Pink Shirt Day outside of your work hours. Take a photo of yourself, or your team, and share it with us, as well as on social media.
Send your photo to us at:
