Commissioner's update for correctional employees: Incident near Collins Bay Institution

I wanted to inform you that police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside of Collins Bay Institution and the Henry Traill Community Correctional Centre.  Please note that none of our staff members were physically injured during this incident.

As a precaution, the institution and community correctional centre are closed to the public until further notice while the police complete their ongoing investigation in the area.

We will keep you updated as we receive information.

This news may be troubling to staff. Please remember that our EAP referral agents are available to listen to you and help find appropriate, helpful resources that can respond to your needs. In addition, Employee Assistance Services are available not only to all employees, but also to eligible family members, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
