Commissioner's update for offenders and their families: May 1, 2023

This content is a message to federal offenders and their families from Correctional Service Canada's (CSC's) Commissioner.

I wanted to let you know that the strike affecting our workers has now ended.

A tentative agreement has been reached between the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and several groups with the Public Service Alliance of Canada. Correctional Service of Canada employees affected by the strike have returned to work this morning and normal operations have resumed.

I want to thank you for your cooperation with us during this time. Your patience has made a difference in helping us maintain the safety and security of our institutions.

We are also grateful to everyone who helped maintain essential services across the country during the labour disruption. I know you have felt the impacts of this strikeover the past weeks, including some disruptions to your regular routines and activities. We continue working hard to get all of these back on track.

Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation, and respect towards each other during this time. I hope that my updates over recent weeks have been helpful in keeping you informed.

Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. — Unknown
