Death of an inmate from Stony Mountain Institution

November 3, 2018 – Stony Mountain, Manitoba – Correctional Service Canada

On November 2, 2018, Nolan Randal Thomas, an inmate from Stony Mountain Institution, died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Thomas, 26 years old, had been serving a sentence of five years, four months for Robbery, Assault Peace Officer With A Weapon/Imitation, Assault Peace Officer, Disguise With Intent and Fail to Comply With a Probation Order since December 13, 2016.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
