Death of an inmate from Collins Bay Institution

November 22, 2019 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On November 21, 2019, Christopher Sipes an inmate from Collins Bay Institution died while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Sipes, 51 years old, had been serving a sentence of 5 years for Possession of Schedule I/II Substances for the Purpose of Trafficking since February 9, 2018.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
