Death of an inmate from Grand Valley Institution for Women

August 13, 2026 – Kitchener, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On August 12, 2026, Monique Frank, an inmate from Grand Valley Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of death, the inmate was 58 years old and had been serving a sentence of 3 years, 3 months and 11 days, since May 29, 2026.

The inmate’s next of kin has been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
