Regulatory and Permitting Efficiency for Clean Growth Projects

Overview

The Cabinet Directive on Regulatory and Permitting Efficiency for Clean Growth Projects focuses on the federal efforts needed to accelerate regulatory efficiency for clean growth projects. It is intended to help get clean growth projects built faster by accelerating decision-making related to these projects. For more information, please visit the Clean Growth Office. 

Section 1. Overview of the Department of Finance Canada's Role in Supporting Regulatory and Permitting Efficiency  

Finance Canada supports the Cabinet Directive on Regulatory and Permitting Efficiency for Clean Growth Projects in an enabling capacity rather than through direct regulatory delivery. Finance does not issue permits, licences, or authorizations for clean growth projects. Instead, Finance's role is primarily indirect and focused on supporting the broader policy and funding framework that supports clean growth projects.

Theme 3: Coordinating consultation with Indigenous Peoples 

Limited applicability for Finance Canada. Finance Canada does not lead Crown consultation activities for clean growth projects, as it is not an operational regulatory department for permitting decisions. Finance supports whole-of-government commitments and implementation through its enabling role, as appropriate.
