The Government of Canada is committed to better incorporating quality of life measurements into government decision-making. As Canada continues to take action in the fight against COVID-19, this work will help ensure all Canadians have the support they need, and benefit from a strong, sustainable and broad recovery once the virus is defeated.

The Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, participated in a discussion hosted by Canada 2020. Minister Fortier highlighted the programs put in place to support Canadians and businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Government’s plan build back better once the virus is defeated.

During the discussion, Minister Fortier touched on the Government’s ongoing work to develop a quality of life framework to inform future policy and budget decisions. By better incorporating quality of life and well-being measurements into the decision-making process, the Government has informed its response to COVID-19, and moving forward, will help ensure that Canada’s economic recovery improves the well-being of future generations.

This fall, the Government will release an update to Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan to outline Canada’s economic and fiscal position, and set out new measures that will help build a stronger, more resilient Canada.
