Government of Canada announces appointments to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal

The Government of Canada is committed to appointing highly qualified candidates who are able to best serve the interests of Canadians, through open, competency-based selection processes for all Governor-in-Council appointments.

In keeping with this commitment, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, announced the appointment of Eric Wildhaber as the Vice-Chairperson of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) for a 5-year term. The Minister also announced the appointment of Greg Gallo (15-month term), Michèle Govier (6-month term), and Randolph W. Heggart (3-year term) as temporary members of the CITT.  

With these appointments, the CITT will be well positioned to continue to carry out its mandate to analyze and advise on a wide range of issues in the realm of international trade.

Quick facts

  • The CITT is an independent, quasi-judicial adjudicative body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance and National Revenue.

  • The CITT supports the government’s objective of a fair and secure Canadian marketplace by providing Canadian and international businesses with access to fair, transparent, and timely adjudication of trade and tariff matters.

  • The CITT conducts inquiries into dumping, subsidy, and procurement complaints; hears appeals of decisions by the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canada Revenue Agency; conducts safeguard inquiries; and provides advice to the government and/or to the Minister of Finance and National Revenue on economic, trade, and tariff issues.
