Campaign Leaders - National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign 2020

Every fall the Departments across Canada launch into their Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC), raising funds for over 86,000 registered charities across Canada. In Ottawa and Gatineau last year, over 3000 local charities benefited from the donations of Public Servants, CAF Members, RCMP Members and retirees.

In conjunction with the GCWCC, the Department of National Defence leads their National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC). The NDWCC is one of the largest amongst Departments, with dedicated donors who believe in giving back to their communities. Last year the NDWCC raised over $1 million dollars in the National Capital Region alone, and over $3 million dollars across Canada.

In order to ensure that the NDWCC is a success every year, DND employs a small group of people we refer to as the Core Team year-round to maintain continuity and ensure that the campaign runs smoothly. The Core Team works closely with the NDWCC Champion, the Youth Council and their GCWCC partners. They support the L1 Team Leaders throughout their campaigns by providing training, large event planning, and reconciliation of all transactions for the Department.

L1 Team Leads are nominated by their L1 NDWCC Champions, and under the leadership of the Core Team, effect successful canvasing and event management. It’s through the generosity of our volunteers and our participants that the NDWCC continues to be an enviable campaign to other Departments.

Like most of you, your Core Team is presently working from home and can be reached by email. These are unprecedented times, and it is their sincere hope to bring Wellness to light through the 2020 Campaign. They will be working to bring in charities to help inform us of how we can make a difference in the lives of our teammates, our neighbours and our communities, continuing to demonstrate to Canadians, although we are apart we’re together at heart.
