Are you a Reserve Force member suffering from an injury, disease or illness related to military service? You may be entitled to compensation.
Reserve Force Compensation
Members of the Reserve Force, and its sub-components, on any class of service, could be eligible for compensation for loss of wages due to an injury, illness, or disease that is deemed attributable to military service. Here is what you need to know if you or one of your subordinates becomes ill or is injured.
First Steps
Priority should be given to having the ill or injured member medically assessed by Canadian Forces Health Services as soon as possible. If the injury or illness is severe enough to prevent a member from returning to civilian employment or military service within assigned medical employment limitations, they should not continue to work or attend parade nights, weekend training or any other Class A or B employment beyond their current term of service. While it is often mistakenly believed that it is in the best interests of the member to continue employment, returning to active participation in the Reserve Force or continuing civilian employment after an injury will jeopardize entitlement to Reserve Force Compensation.
