The Honourable George J. Furey, Speaker of the Senate, to join Royal Canadian Navy in marking the anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic

May 5, 2017 – Ottawa – National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces 

The media are invited to attend the Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony with The Honourable George J. Furey, Speaker of the Senate, to commemorate the sacrifices made by those thousands of Canadians who fought so valiantly in the North Atlantic. 

When: 10:55 a.m. May 7, 2017 

Where: National War Memorial 

Veterans and the Sea Cadets band will step off at 10:30 a.m. to form up with the entire parade at the National War Memorial. For this event, the following roads will be closed to motorists from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 

  • Wellington St. and Elgin St. around the National War Memorial 
  • There will be other road closures in the area unrelated to the Battle of the Atlantic ceremony.
