To mark the 60th anniversary of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) a Canadian delegation including the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence; the Honourable Andrew Leslie, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Canada-U.S. Relations); General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff; and Jody Thomas, Deputy Minister of National Defence, will attend a number of official events in Colorado Springs May 11 and 12, 2018.

The Ceremony and Mission Display on Saturday, May 12 will feature the Canadian Aerial Demonstration Team, the Snowbirds, and the Royal Canadian Air Force Band, “MACH 4”.

The celebrations in Colorado Springs mark the anniversary of the first signing of the NORAD Agreement between Canada and the U.S. on May 12, 1958. The initial agreement placed the air defense capabilities of both nations under one bi-national command. This still stands 60 years later as the sole bi-national command with a partnership that continues to evolve.
