Advocating for a Strong, Secure and Engaged Canadian Armed Forces
The Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) is an organization of more than 140 Canadian volunteers who work in partnership with the Defence Team to engage employers, educational institutions and other organizations to emphasise how valuable reserve service is to Canadian communities and the defence of Canada. Our volunteers are executives, educators, managers, and community leaders who understand how important reserve service is, and how the workforce benefits from the skills and values military members bring with them.
Canada’s Defence Policy: Strong, Secure, Engaged, states the importance of the Reserve Force and outlined its growth to 30,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen who serve in communities across Canada.
Who are reservists?
Reservists are members of the Canadian Armed Forces who typically serve on a part-time basis. They are employees, co-workers and students from your community who embody the courage, loyalty, and integrity to keep one foot firmly planted in a civilian career and the other training and preparing to protect Canadians at home and abroad. They are the neighbours who knock on your door during fires, floods and ice-storms to make sure you and your family are safe. The CFLC engages with organizational leaders across the country to foster conditions that enable reservists to attend training and conduct operations.
Through military service, reservists acquire a range of skills that are valuable to the civilianworkplace. Leadership, reliability, strong communications skills, and teamwork are a few of the professional attributes that are reflected in an ethos of ethics and hard work. By supporting the Reserve Force, employers, educational institutions and communities share the benefits of ongoing professional development as they progress throughout their military career.
With your support the CFLC will ensure the dedicated men and women of our military can continue to serve their communities and Canada.
