Cadet Advisory Council

The Cadet Advisory Council (CAC) will be hosted by the Commander Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers through a collaboration with Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central). The working group will provide the opportunity for the Commander and senior staff at the headquarters to engage directly with a group of senior cadets from across the country on a variety of cadet program related topics.

Transcript

You may recall that in my remarks when I assumed command of Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers in September 2020, I expressed my excitement to join the CJCR team and said that I wanted to hear from the cadets themselves about how we improve the program and make it more contemporary, agile and flexible for the future. Today, I come to you to tell you that I am fulfilling this promise and announced that I have directed the standing up of the Cadet Advisory Council! The first sitting of the Council will be in the Summer 2021.

I know there are many committees and mechanisms already in place to allow cadets to voice feedback and provide suggestions, so you may be asking what is different about this Advisory Council? Well, the difference is that contrary to other committees, this is a national group that will be comprised of three cadets per region - one per element - plus one group leader.  Although summer is when this Advisory Council will take place, the actual work and process will be much broader and my intent is that cadets will in fact work throughout the year, acting as a sounding board for senior formation staff to help address cadet-related topics. This is an opportunity for senior staff and me to engage directly with cadet leaders from across the country on a variety of topics that relate to their program and for cadets to help shape their decisions.

I am looking for cadets who are up for the challenge. Does this sound interesting to you?
If so, selections will be done by Region, so reach out to your chain of command to ask for more information on how to be recommended for the Formation Cadet Advisory Council.

I can’t wait to work with you on ensuring the Cadet Program remains the best youth program in Canada.
