Cadet Summer Training 2022 will be offered in-person! Common Courses are open to all elements. The additional three categories are listed by element for training geared to Sea, Army and Air Cadets.

CTC Course Updates
To determine how to modify our 2022 summer course offerings, a number of factors were considered including staff support requirements, cadet interest and demand, and the course’s role in overall Cadet development. Based on this analysis, six of the courses originally announced will not be delivered in-person at CTCs this summer. These courses are:
Music (Pipes and Drums) – This specialized course is supported by training at the corps and squadron level throughout the year. In addition, a low number of applications were received for 2022 and current demand requires more staff than cadet students. We are continuing to explore options to offer this course without CTC attendance.
Ship’s Boat Operator – A low number of applications were received in 2022 for this supplemental course which relies on the Whaler platform. After two years of limited on-water training, Sea Cadet summer training in 2022 requires focus on foundational Seamanship courses to qualify cadets for future advanced seamanship courses.
Leadership and Challenge – This supplemental course requires contracted advance training and specialized medical staff to deliver due to the intense, high-impact activities it includes. Due to staffing and contracting challenges, we are unable to offer this course in 2022.
Advanced Aerospace – This highly specialized course was delivered nationally at a single CTC. Due to limited staff support, the course is cancelled to ensure the successful delivery of core glider flying courses.
Aviation Technology and Aerospace – This introductory Air Cadet course does not lead into any follow-on courses currently in the Air Cadet curriculum. The decision was made not to run this course in 2022 to allow for a focus on fundamental aviation theory and flying training.
Cadet Administration and Supply Assistant – The decision was made not to run this trial course in 2022 to allow for better curriculum development and an enhanced training experience for cadets. As this is a trial course, it also does not directly support corps and squadron annual training.
We remain committed to delivering Cadet Activity Programs (CAPs) in communities across the country as detailed under the Cadet Program Re-scope, and planning for summer 2022 CAPs is still on-going. Our initial planning focus has been on the more complex CTC details, but we anticipate having a fuller update on Summer 2022 CAPs in the near future.
Delivery Methods
Hybrid: A course that is composed of a virtual training component and an in-house training component.
- You must have a Cadet365 account to participate in virtual training.
In-person: Training will be completed in-person at one of the Cadet Training Centres with no virtual component.

| Military Band Musician (MB) | The Cadet Musician - Military Band course provides cadets an opportunity to develop music skills ranging from basic to advanced to support participation in and / or leading corps/squadron military bands. | Glider Pilot Training Course | The Glider Pilot Training Course is a six- or seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Glider Pilot Licence. Cadets applying for the Glider Pilot Training Course must be 16 years old by September 1st of the year the course is taken, must successfully complete Proficiency Level Three by the end of the training year, applicants are required to pass a qualifying exam conducted and administered by the Air Cadet National Ground School, must have completed Grade 9 or equivalent (Secondary 3 in Quebec and Senior 1 in Manitoba) by the nomination deadline, must obtain a valid Category 3 Medical Certificate from Transport Canada, and must meet the minimum and maximum height and weight limitations. The physical limitations for height and weight are: minimum height of 152.4 cm and a maximum height of 190.5 cm, and a minimum weight of 40.82 Kg and a maximum weight of 90.72 Kg. | 6 weeks total in-house | Training Year 3+ Age 16+ |

| Power Pilot Training Course | The Power Pilot Training Course is a seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Power Pilot Licence. Planned CTC Locations
The 2022 planned CTCs are dispersed across the country, generally located within Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) facilities, which supports our flexible programming and meets our requirements for 2022 and the near-term future.
This summer we plan to operate 12 centralized CTCs which embody the tri-service reality of the Cadet Program. Each CTC is attended by cadets representing all three elements. The name of the CTC refers to the centralized location of cadet accommodations and administrative support, but we may also use nearby community facilities for specific activities where appropriate.
