The Gulf War
Protecteur participated with the multinational Persian Gulf naval force in the United Nations' action against Iraq.Footnote 3
South-West Asia
Protecteur arrived mid-May 2002 as part of the second task group deployed to the region designated Roto 1. Protecteur replaced HMCS Preserver as the Task Group operational support ship and continued the functions of supporting multi-national coalition forces in the area.Footnote 4
