A large-scale forest fire that started on 6 September 1963 in Parana State, Brazil, killed 110 people, and destroyed over 2 million hectares of forest, and more than 5000 homes, leaving many thousands homeless. On 21 September, a 437 Squadron Yukon aircraft flew to Brazil with 37,000 lbs (16818 kgs) of powdered milk and other aid.
