Notre-Dame-du-Laus families to benefit from upgraded community spaces that support a better quality of life

News Release

September 21, 2017 – Notre-Dame-du-Laus, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

With the help of $93,018 in Government of Canada funding, families in Notre-Dame-du-Laus (website in French only) will benefit from safer places for their children to play and upgraded sites for socializing and participating in physical activities.

This funding was announced today by David Graham, Member of Parliament for Laurentides–Labelle, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

The financial assistance will allow the municipality to renovate the building, redo the interior of the community centre and upgrade the locker rooms.

This investment was made through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300 million fund set up to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary by investing in community spaces that bring Canadians together.

Quotes

“This investment targets a community building project to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary. And what better way to mark this milestone than by celebrating the places that bring us together—the places that allow us to stay fit, unwind and connect with our friends and neighbours. That’s how we establish the bonds of common understanding and friendship in a country where people come from every corner of the world. The values of openness, diversity and inclusion that define all Canadians are forged in our community spaces.”

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED

“I am delighted with CED’s support in the region. Part of Canada’s 150th celebrations, this federal partnership with the municipality of Notre-Dame-du-Laus is just one of many community projects that have received support over the past year. Our thanks go out to all those who invest and participate in community life. You are key to the vitality of our beautiful region!”

David Graham, MP for Laurentides–Labelle
