Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France in Mauricie has ambitious plans for the next few years

News release

The Government of Canada provides the Saint-Alexis-des-Monts microbrewery with more than $220,000 in financial assistance to carry out a project valued at over half a million dollars.

July 18, 2018 – Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, Quebec Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Brewing beer is one of Canada’s oldest industries, and its consumption is one of Canada’s well-established traditions. Craft beer has particularly flourished in recent years. A number of Quebec brewers are growing, and the Government of Canada supports local brewers as they expand to meet the growing demand for their products while maintaining and creating jobs.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France Inc. would receive $220,768 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, to support its expansion.

The funding, awarded under CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program, will allow the microbrewery to increase its production capacity, particularly through the acquisition of more efficient malting equipment that is better adapted to its needs, which will generate an increase in sales on the Canadian and international markets.

Based in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, the Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France microbrewery has been in business for 20 years. Starting in 2010, the young managers led the business through a transformation, particularly by producing and marketing four varieties of high quality gluten-free beer, and controlling the malting of the grain grown on the business’s organic farm.
