Invitation to media – Carlos Leitão to announce Government of Canada support for two businesses in Montréal’s East End affected by tariff situation

Montréal, Quebec, May 12, 2026 – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Government of Canada is taking action by supporting businesses as they diversify their markets in order to reduce risk, strengthen their economic resilience and consolidate their competitiveness to help them face tariff pressures.
It is in this context that Carlos Leitão, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for CED, will visit two businesses in the aluminum industry in Montréal’s East End and announce CED funding under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI).
