Government of Canada supports Etobicoke businesses to drive growth and boost competitiveness

News release

August 27, 2026 – Etobicoke, Ontario

FedDev Ontario provides over $6.6 million for five Etobicoke businesses to modernize operations and unlock new opportunities for growth

Etobicoke plays a vital role in Toronto’s economic landscape, supported by a strong industrial base, and a skilled and diverse workforce. The Government of Canada remains committed to supporting businesses in regions across southern Ontario as they grow, innovate, and compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Today, James Maloney, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke-Lakeshore, on behalf of the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a combined repayable investment of over $6.6 million to support the growth of five Etobicoke-based businesses: All Wood Fine Interiors, Clear Air Carbon Fiber, Just Vertical, Rawcology, and SWTCH Energy.

As part of this announcement, SWTCH Energy is receiving a $4 million investment to improve its resilience and competitiveness by enhancing its service capabilities to support the deployment of its EV charging solutions, software platforms, and operating models in new markets at home and abroad.

Today’s investments, through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), will help these businesses strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, create growth opportunities, mitigate trade disruptions and reinforce regional supply chains. For more information on the businesses being supported, please see the backgrounder.

Earlier this week, the Government of Canada introduced a $7.5 billion package of new and expanded measures that deliver fast, simple and agile supports to Canadian workers and businesses, building on the nearly $25 billion in supports the government has provided since the implementation of the U.S. tariffs.

As part of this package, the Government of Canada is investing an additional $1.5 billion in RTRI, delivered by Canada's seven Regional Development Agencies, to help businesses respond to tariff pressures.

The Government of Canada is committed to supporting businesses and workers to enhance competitiveness, build resilience, and drive long-term economic prosperity across Canada.
