Inclusion Benefits All
On May 16, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) was proud to receive the Leadership in Employment Diversity award from LiveWorkPlay, in recognition of an employment pilot-project launched at Service Canada to help promote employment for adults with intellectual disabilities.
LiveWorkPlay is an Ottawa-based organization that works to promote the economic and social inclusion of adults with intellectual disabilities.
Heather McAdam, a LiveWorkPlay member, joined Integrity Services Branch’s Branch Management Services through this pilot in 2015.
This partnership has benefitted everyone involved. Heather is contributing to information management within the Branch and on her team’s deliverables. Her job not only helps her to build skills, but also provides her with confidence. She enjoys working here because of the environment, the variety of her work and her colleagues. This pilot has also been a great development opportunity for the Branch—helping everyone explores innovative approaches to work, creating a positive work environment and increasing team moral.
Partnerships like this help the Department drive innovation.
