What

The Habitat III Summit, which took place from October 17 to 20 in Quito, Ecuador, brought together governments, representatives of Indigenous organizations, the private and not-for-profit sectors and civil society from 194 countries. Participants united their voices in support of creating sustainable communities worldwide that put citizens first. Habitat III addressed the issues of poverty, climate change, public safety, infrastructure and housing, health and quality of life, and economic, social and creative advantages provided by cities.

The Summit culminated in an international declaration, entitled the New Urban Agenda, which seeks to reinvigorate global political commitments and set an action plan for the sustainable development of towns, cities and human settlements over the next 20 years.

Now that the conference is finished and the New Urban Agenda has been adopted, the Government of Canada is seeking your feedback and ideas on how Canada could put this program in place. We would also like you to share what lessons you think Canada can learn from the events and discussions that took place during the Summit.

The engagement will close on December 9, 2016.

Who
