HIFIS 3 Training Centre

The HIFIS Training Centre provides HIFIS staff and administrators with interactive, self-paced training.

HIFIS training enables you to quickly and easily find out how to complete tasks using HIFIS and use quick links to demonstrations if you need a reminder of how to do a task you may not often complete. It is available online and can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, you can start and stop the training whenever you wish. About the HIFIS Training Centre

The HIFIS Basics course is made up of 5 modules for new HIFIS users. It begins with an orientation to HIFIS. Next, you will get an overview of the system. Finally, you will learn how to navigate within the software and how to complete basic tasks, which includes: creating records, editing client details, and booking in clients and families.

Beyond the Basics

The Beyond the Basics course introduces you to internal communications, incident recording, and Case Management feature for Caseworkers.

Administrator Training

The Administrator Training course provides guidance to Administrators on how to set up HIFIS, to maintain data integrity, and how to customize reports.

National Homelessness Information Initiative

HIFIS supports the federal government National Homelessness Information Initiative of the Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy that aims to facilitate the collection of data to support the creation of a National Portrait of homelessness in Canada. The government receives quarterly a set of non-identifiable (anonymous) data that helps to measure the state of homelessness at a national level. Personal identifiers are replaced by a unique encrypted identifiers before the data is exported. The unique identifiers cannot be reversed, thus ensuring that the client information is anonymous.

Organizations that host HIFIS must enter into an End-User Licence Agreement and a Data Provision Agreement with Employment and Social development Canada (ESDC). The End-User Licence Agreement is a contract between the licensor and the purchaser. The Data Provision Agreement outlines the requirements for data collections, privacy and security for organizations that are using HIFIS to enter data and export them to ESDC. It also outlines the Government of Canada's responsibilities and obligations related to the use and protection of data. HIFIS users must adhere to the privacy security standards respecting personal information in their respective province/territory.
