Manual reporting can be very time consuming. Thankfully, there are over 80 reports that can be quickly and easily generated in HIFIS.
If you are not familiar with the Reports function in HIFIS, please take some time to review the Reports module of the HIFIS Beyond the Basics training.
Things to remember about reports:
- There are certain key reports you will use all of the time. When you are in the Reports Manager you can “Favorite” the reports you use most often.
- Sometimes data integrity issues can skew your reports (for example, when one person is entered into HIFIS twice (duplicate record) it looks like there are more homelessness people using your services, whereas the person is accessing your services more often). This emphasizes why it is important to perform regular data maintenance. Check to see if the data makes sense!
- If different funders use different age ranges (for example, youth as 16-24 or youth as 18-29), you can set different age ranges to be used when generating a report

The Report Guide (a guide to all the reports in the HIFIS software) is available through the HIFIS software. To download it, open the Help menu in the software and choose ‘Get HIFIS documents’. This manual contains a detailed list of every field used in every report and can be very useful for any administrator to study.
