HIFIS Set-up: Welcome

If you are implementing HIFIS 3.8 for the first time in your shelter or at your service provider’ site you first need to:

  • Download and install the demo version of HIFIS 3.8
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA)
  • Register with the National Homelessness Information System (NHIS) to get a Site ID number, sign the Data Provision Agreement (DPA) and activate HIFIS
  • Configure HIFIS

This module introduces you to the layout of the Administration workspace. You will learn how to customize the default HIFIS set-up to meet the needs of your shelter or service provider.

If your organization is implementing HIFIS for the first time, we recommend that you complete this module as well as the Customizing HIFIS module prior to registering and activating HIFIS.

To learn more about these functions, access the Administrator manuals through the HIFIS software. To download the documents, open the Help menu and choose ‘Get HIFIS documents’.
